The BLIOKAS family obtained Portuguese visas in Toulouse, presumably from Emile Gissot under the authority of Aristides de Sousa Mendes.
They crossed into Portugal and sailed from Lisbon to Baltimore on the vessel Cassequel in June 1941. Berthe BLIOKAS’ mother, Esther ASINSKY and her sisters Dora NEULINGER, Golda SEREBRIANY and Rosa TENENBAUM received visas authorized by Aristides de Sousa Mendes in Bayonne.
