João Schwarz da Silva

Dr. João Schwarz da Silva was born in Portugal and has worked as an engineer in several countries. Numerous members of his family, originally from Poland, were granted life-saving visas by Aristides de Sousa Mendes. He is the grandson of Samuel Schwarz, the discoverer of the “New Christians” of Portugal. He is a Research Fellow at the University of Luxembourg and President of the Association of the Friends of the Synagogue of Tomar, the oldest known synagogue in Portugal.
